Name/Title
Inuit Toy - AcrobatDescription
Toy acrobat made of carved bone, probably ribs, with articulated hips and shoulders hanging on a rope made of sinew strung between two rib(?) bones, which are inserted into a segment of antler. The piece is very simply carved with few details, although there is a circle carved around the face and a small point on the back of the head giving the appearance of wearing a parka. The hands have no detail- the bone ends are drilled through to allow for the sinew rope to pass through. The hands are tied in place on the rope with thin cotton thread. The joints are articulated with knots of sinew.Made/Created
