Description

Soapstone carving depicting a mother seal nursing a pup. The pup is only visible on the left side of the sculpture, below the mother. The mother is apparently on a rock, with her head turned to the right, her front flippers splayed out in front of her and her tail folded down over the pup.

The base is inscribed with several Inuit language characters and the number "87 © 3791". Additionally, there is a sticker with the following written on it in pen: "C11-3792 Seal-Akulivik F(?) Qumak". There is also a pre-printed sticker that reads, "canada eskimo art esquimau" with the number 2 in the lower right corner.
