Small Nivaclé Knotted Bag

Description

Small globular knotted/macramé bag made of natural and dyed caraguatá fibers made for transporting seeds. The bag, which has been sewn closed, is filled with large round seeds. There is a long handle made of spun caraguatá fibers, one end of which is tied together with fine dark brown fiber and the other end of which is tied together with fine red fiber; both ends are attached to the bag with fine red fiber. One end of the bag is decorated with bands of red, dark brown (or black), light brown (or rust), and natural fiber, while the other end has several bands that consist of rectangles of brown/black and rust color alternating with areas of natural fiber.

Use

Used to transport seeds that were collected in the wild.
