Description

Beautifully carved and painted Haida mask. It has abalone inset in its eyes and ten plugs of human hair. There is a stylized human head between the ears, animal figures emerging from each cheek and a frog in the mouth.

Material Notes

The mask is made of wood and is partially painted. It has ten plugs of human hair set into the upper sides of the mask around the ears with wooden pins. The eyes are set with abalone. The small head between the ears is held in place with two small steel nails.
