Emberá Wounaan Olla Basket

Description

Beautifully made olla-shaped basket decorated with a series of alternating color stepped diamond shapes radiating outward from just below the midpoint of the basket. The first diamond is created with a light tan color, followed by a dark colored band, then another light colored band, then two dark colored bands. After this is a line which starts light tan colored but becomes red about an inch below the rim. The rim is self-coiled with dark fiber. The design on the base is a yellow or mustard colored five-petaled flower-like pattern.
