Name/Title

Whale Bone Hunter Sculpture

Description

Small carving of a hunter carrying a seal on his back, likely carved from whale pelvic bone. Because of the porosity of the bone, little detail can be seen, although the hunter's eyes can be seen, as can the line marking his hood around his face, the length of his parka, and the ends of the parka at his hands. The seal's face is also visible, as is the end of its rear flipper.
