English:
Bishop of Portus and St. Rufina Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church
General Vicar of His Holiness Our Lord the Pope Secretary of the Holy Roman and Universal Inquisition, Ordinary Judge of the Roman Curia and its district, etc.
To all and any who inspect these present documents, we attest and affirm that for the greater glory of the Almighty God and the veneration of His Saints, we have recognised the sacred particles from the tomb of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga
which, having been extracted from authentic places, we have reverently placed in a case of silver in a round shape, adorned with crystal, well sealed, tied with a red silk cord, and marked with our seal. We have delivered them with the faculty of retaining them, transmitting them outside the City, and exposing them to the public veneration of the Faithful. However, we admonish the faithful into whose hands these sacred relics shall come now or in the future, that it is in no way permitted to sell them or exchange them for items that bear the appearance of commerce.
In witness whereof, we have ordered these testimonial letters, signed by our own hand and sealed with our seal, to be issued by the undersigned Custodian of Sacred Relics.
At Rome, from our residence, on the 14th day of the month of July, in the year 1899.
