Girolamo Francesco Mazzuoli, called Parmagianino for his hometown of Parma, was an incredibly prolific early Mannerist painter and printmaker. Considered a prodigy, Parmigianino completed his first altarpiece at only sixteen and became a darling of the Papal court in his early wenties where they dubbed him the “new Raphael”.
