Metal attachments were used for a variety of purposes in Etruria. These decorative bronze handles might have once attached to a bronze vessel. Because bronze handles were caste separately and then attached to the vessel, it is common for the handle to survive separately from the vessel. Ornate handles such as these are a testament to the artistic and technical skills of the metalworkers at the time.
