Dr. Harry Gottlieb, was a graduate of Temple University School of Medicine (1951). He completed his residency in internal medicine at Philadelphia General Hospital, and was renowned as a master diagnostician and compassionate bedside advisor. He was one of many male physicians and surgeons who supported and contributed to the work of the Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania, and was the most sought-after physician in the College community. Dr. Gottlieb came to Woman’s Med in 1955 as an assistant clinical instructor, rising eventually to Professor of Medicine and Senior Vice President for Clinical Affairs. He served steadfastly as teacher, clinician, staff officer, and later administrator. Also an endocrinologist, Dr. Gottlieb was a nationally-known authority on diabetes and diabetes education.
