Constantine Hering, MD (1800-1880) was the father of homeopathy in the United States and the founder of the Hahnemannian Society in Philadelphia and eventually the North American Academy of Homeopathic Medicine in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the first homeopathic medical school in the United States, which lasted until 1842. This Academy laid the foundation for future homeopathic schools and hospitals such as Hahnemann Medical College, founded in 1867.
