Dr. Kellow earned his M.D. degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1946, and subsequently became Associate Dean at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. An internist, pulmonary disease specialist, and leading medical educator, he accepted the Deanship at Hahnemann in 1961. Together with President Charles Cameron, he planned and successfully launched the completion of the New College Building. He also began the Department of Community Medicine.
Dr. Kellow was awarded an honorary degree from Hahnemann, as well as from Georgetown and St. Joseph’s University. In 1977 he was awarded mastership in the American College of Physicians, the highest honor presented to Fellows of the College. In 1967 he left Hahnemann to become Dean of Jefferson Medical College, where he spent the remainder of his career.
