William Matthew Prior was an American Folk artist who lived from 1806 to 1873. Prior was renowned for his paintings and portraiture depicting women, children, and family-life. After converting to Millerism, an Evangelical sect was founded by Adventist leader William Miller. Gift of Joseph J. Rishel and Anne d'Harnoncourt
