Talavera is Mexican tin-glazed earthenware (majolica) produced in the town of Puebla. The particular style of this Talavera charger is known as “Chinese” since it imitated the blue and white porcelains reaching Mexico from China via Manila in the Philippines. This particular pottery type became popular in Mexico from 1650–1800.
