This jasperware Blue Wedgwood part-service, comprising a teapot and small and large cream jugs, was for the British afternoon tea ritual. Jasperware was first developed in 1774 by Josiah Wedgwood I, founder of the Wedgwood dynasty into which Charles Darwin married. Wedgwood, of Stoke-on-Trent, England, produced jasperware in a variety of colors, the most popular being a pale blue known as Wedgwood Blue.
