Description

The collection consists of administrative records from Captain Richard Titus’s Civil War service. This includes a broadside advertisement for recruits and the individual enlistment records of 75 men from Dutchess County which formed Company I of the 150th NY Volunteer Regiment. These records are detailed: listed are the age, occupation, height, eye color, hair color, and complexion of each enlisted man. Also included are extensive administrative records of Company I that document supplies and ordnance and monthly returns of men (basically head counts) for the entire period the company was active. Some bound material is also included, which contains the morning reports for the entire active period. Richard Titus’s wartime family correspondence is also included.
