Untitled (Four Cows in Florida) [After 1867]

Untitled (Four Cows in Florida) [After 1867]: View of a landscape with cows, trees, and a body of water. In the foreground there are a variety of different vegetation, some small flowers, and small plants, and some larger. On the right side of the foreground are the larger pieces of vegetation that reach up toward the center part of the right edge. On the left of the foreground is a large tree trunk that extends toward the upper left corner. In the center portion of the middle ground are two central cows. The leftmost cow is black and white and stands in profile toward the right, with its head lifted upwards. The cow on the right is much smaller in height, and is a dark red coloring. It faces slightly toward the viewer. Above these two cows is a tree branch that reaches out from the left to enclose the two cows In the background there are more trees and vegetation, with fan-like shaped leaves, white colored flowers, and moss that hangs from the branches of the trees. To the right of the background are more trees, which are very tall in height, and also have the hanging moss. Below these trees is a small section of water where there are two cows that stand there to drink. Behind this area is what appears to be more land, possibly a hill. The composition of this painting, and its subjects, is very similar to the other landscape painting of cows in Florida, Three Cows at the Mouth of Deep River, Florida
