To the right of this tree is a sitting bird facing to the left, and to the right of bird are more aquatic grasses, the rocky shore, and water. In the middle ground there are three birds that stand in the center of the composition on the dry land--one faces in profile to the right, and the other two face to the left, one with its wings expanded and the other reclining. In the background, on the left, are cattails and vegetation, more trees and their branches, with three birds sitting at the base of the tree at the center of the composition.
