Description

Quilt made by Florence Day McKamey, "Caesar's Crown" pattern. Pattern has circles with inner diamonds. Cotton print fabric used. Background is predominantly yellow, although nine blocks have a cream background. A green floral border surrounds the blocks (2.0in); a second border made from the background fabric is near the edge. Backing is a cream cotton and folds over the circle/diamond patterns. Hand pieced. Hand quilted (diagonal quilting in borders). Portion of yellow border are made with two different colored material. 1930s-1940s. Hanging sleeve. Comments from Merikay Waldvogel, 3/16/2004-- Likes the border. The pattern is complex--smaller pieces and yellow behind the pieced blocks.
