Description

.3 Teapot with hinged lid, extra silver plate, urn-shape body on pedestal base, engraved with "Hoxsie" in Old English font on front center round medallion nameplate, three small bead borders--one on lid, two on finial, finial topped with small bead, swooping handle with swirling leaves and smooth oval decoration ending with down-turned swirl/two stone insulators, "C" scroll foliate decoration on spout, machine-turned geometric ground with scallops with carved flower and leaves, bead border at top (mid-way small and large on base), Greek key design around body, marked 6XXX on interior lid, base stamped "[original manufacturer's name-rendered illegible] / COMPANY with "No. / 1835 / 5" centered between, attached metal tag marked "ROGERS & BRO. [with star at either end] / EXTRA PLATE / WATERBURY CT.," base also marked 6XXX-7, manufactured by Rogers & Bro. (Waterbury, Conn.), 11"h x 10"w, 1866. Appears original manufacturer's name is rubbed out; attached metal tag shows Rogers & Bro.
