Description

Woman's suit of Mary Jane Tolbert Solomon, heavy navy cotton flannel, c. late 1800s. a) Jacket with double-breasted effect--two rows of brass-color button with raised leaf-and-grape motif, black taffeta collar and sleeves and back vent trim, tapered back with double vents with brass-color buttons, puff sleeve caps, set in pockets with flaps, fully lined in greenish-brown cotton (used on .1 and .4), 27"h x 16"w, late 1800s. b) Long skirt, flared and gored with stitched-down pleats front and center back with hook-and-eye closure, waistband faced with lining fabric.
