Quilt in "Wedding Ring"* pattern attributed to Martha E. Carson, Lucinda McLin Carson or Sophia Caroline McLin, alternate solid and pieced squares, nine squares high/eight squares wide, top and bottom rows identical pieced squares--light brown print with peach rounded forms dotted with red/light-brown floral spray/white background, dark-brown calico geometric with tones of brown/yellow/red used in between, pieced squares use two fabrics--floral with floral geometric, four different colored squares repeat through quilt each having touch of red, natural muslin with very small floral backing, medium-blue and white binding, quilted on diagonal in floral pattern, 85"h x 74"w, c. 1880-1890 (*pattern name and date per quilt historian Merikay Waldvogel) * Called "Crown of Thorns," c. 1860-1889 per Freeman's auction catalog
