Quilt made by Kitzmiller or DeVault family, "New York Beauty" pattern ("Rocky Mountain" variation), medallians of green print/yellow/red, colors repeated in arcs at corners, bands of sharp triangles in red and white on the diagonal, white ground, van dyked edging, feather/star/plume quilting, machine and hand sewn, 92" x 82", 1890-1910. Shade of white varies on quilt.
Regional characteristic: without border no matter how formal it is meant to be--pattern goes to edge and ends there (one idea is that it was meant to be tucked under the mattress as a blanket rather than spread over the top as a cover with sides hanging down to viewCollection
