a) Quilt is string pieced, probably with newspaper underneath, large central 8-pointed multi-colored star (68' x 68"), with two smaller ones in two corners, all synthetic fabric--rayon, as from women's dresses and possibly ties, background is pea-green polished cotton, green satin "boudoir" backing (fabric was used in upscale bedrooms in the 1920s-1930s), color choice is unusual as 1930s is usually associated with soft colors/pastels, reversible, handsewn, 5 stitches/inch with yellow cotton thread, quilting is parallel lines by block and straight grid in background, 6" and 2" borders with cross hatching, stitching is somewhat crude, binding is back to front, square corner, 1936.
