Quilt made from sock tops by unknown maker (probably member of the Pollard family), cotton with some blends, hand-dyed pink muslin backing, binding from back to front, cotton batting, c. 1945-1946 (when Virginia Davidson married)/1940s-1950s (per quilt historian Merikay Waldvogel). Unwashed.
Sock manufacturer is unknown. Donor was told that the distinct patterns were special runs from around the Christmas holidays.

Virginia Davis (c. 1926, Graysville, TN-2010, Mobile, AL, married young/c. 1945-'46) was a retired school teacher. Grew up in Graysville (not far from Dayton), Rhea County-not far from Cleveland, Tn.
"Her people" made if for her-Robin takes that to mean "her family."
Sock factory/hosiery mill in Cleveland … also Crescent sock factory in Niota.
Patterns in socks very distinct, did special runs around holidays
All cotton with some blends
Muslin backing hand dyed pink
Binding from back to front
Cotton batting
She has not washed the quilt.
Some damage-one piece yellowed, tear (as though caught on something)
