Crazy quilt made by Mary Ann Rogers Maupin, plaids/solids/stripes/geometric designs in wool/velvet/cotton/silk, fabric mostly cut in rectangles and triangles and pieced together, some with embroidery in stem/buttonhole/satin/herringbone stitches, seams accented with herringbone stitch in various colors, blue-and-green small plaid material used for bias trim on edges, reverse in gold/red/green heraldic pattern, backing tacked to top every 14" with heavy black threads, 84"h x 70"w, prior to 1888* / probably 1890s**.
Present backing appears to have been added sometime later due to basting stiches not on backing and color at hole.
