Petticoat (appears to be adapted from bottom of summer dress), white linen and lace, seven gores, back center opening, two rows of 1/8" tucks with 2" lace inserts, 2 1/2"w row of tucks at top, 2"w row of tucks at bottom, double flounce attached to bottom insert with 1 1/2" row of tucks and 3 1/2"w scalloped lace edging on top flounce, bottom flounce with 3/4"w row of tucks 1/2"w lace, entire 16"w flounce top stitched to gored section, back shortened 1" at center tapering to 1/4" at sides (original dress was longer at back), 40"h x 52" hem/15" waist, handmade, c. late 19th century.
Started as summer dress but as wearer gained weight and skirt developed holes, bodice was removed and waistband was added, possibly by Eleanor Bachman Kitzmiller or her daughter Mary Kitzmiller Osborne.
