Reproduction French and Indian War-era Independent Company (British) officer's regimental uniform frock used by reenactor Sam Reed, stand-up collar with turn-back ends with large pewter button, front closing with two large hooks and one large pewter button at waist, scarlet dyed wool*, 100% poppinger green dyed wool facing and cuffs**, four separate panels for skirt with pewter buttom trim, single button at hem connects side back panel and back panel on both sides, 100% linen (green) lining, turn back facing trimmed with 10 large pewter buttons on each slide, mariner [slash] cuffs, scalloped red flaps on cuffs with four large pewter buttons, insert pockets each side of skirt with scalloped flaps with four large pewter buttons, scalloped red hand sewn by Sam Reed (during winter of 2006-2007), size 44, made by Sam Reed, 44"h x 39"w, 17"w at shoulders, 2007. Made using JP Ryan pattern.
* purchased from vendor attending one of the Fort Loudoun Trade Fairs; believed by maker to be commercially dyed.
**Front facings and cuffs are the only portions originally dyed by Jim Liles. They were left over from an earlier uniform that Reed put together and used in this construction as a tribute to the late Liles (1930-2002), who was one of the founding members of the South Carolina Independent Company (6/1987), a long time member of the Company of Overmountain Men, and an expert on natural dyeing techniques.Made/Created
