Quilt perhaps made by Sarah Gallaher Hardin, "Coxcomb and Currants" pattern, nine appliqued blocks with vine border, red and yellow-green cotton fabric on white background, extensive stippling around stylized flower in center of each block, handsewn and hand quilted (not finest quilting), some quilting echos flower buds (donor believes them to be an oak leaf, which stands for courage), 10 stitches/inch with cotton thread, borders on two sides 5.5"/other two sides 6.5", set is 3x3 tangent, rounded corner, c.1850.Collection
