Description

Cap from baseball uniform of Columbus Cook Horton, maroon wool with white piping and letter O on front above brim, made in six sections with white piping in between, maroon-covered button at top center, heavy cottong sweatband inside, inside seams covered with black bias tape, probably manufactured by The Sutcliffe (Louisville, KY), 5"h x 7 1/2"w x 10"d, 1907-1912.* * NOTE: Horton left the Army in 1907. "The Story of Marion County Its People and Places," compiled by the Marion County Historical Society and published in 1990, shows a photo of the Orme Band taken in the same spot and dates it to c. 1912.
