Dress-believed to be a wedding dress-that belonged to Annetta Provenza Armetta, handmade, early 1900s (c. 1908). Brought from Sicily, Italy.
a) Bodice-cream brocade bodice, high neck hooks at back, short sleeve, pleats at shoulders from front wait to back waist, elbow-length sleeves with embroidered lace flounce, mesh fabric overlay on front and sleeves, heavy braid trim with sequins and gold balls, puffed center bodice of brocade and sheer fabric, same fabric cotton twill tape belt with metal hook and eye, fully lined, cotton inner bodice closes with fourteen (14) metal hook and eyes, 19 ½"h x 13"w.
b) Skirt-cream brocade, deep pleats front and back, front panel centered with two rows of heavy braid work swirls and fan shapes trimmed with sheer fabric inserts/gold beads/sequins/ sheer half bows, single row of embellished braid starts halfway down skirt and extends around back, back closure with metal hook and eye and snaps, skirt longer in back to form train, braid sewn around interior hem, 41"h x 12"w.
c-d) Tapered sleeve extensions, cream brocade, 6"h x 2"w/12"h x 2"w. Believed used in church to make into long sleeves.Made/Created
