B & W digital scan of LA Aqueduct Workmen waiting for supper at Aqueduct Mess House, location unknown. These Mess Houses were portable. Up to August 1, 1908, the Aqueduct maintined its own commissary department in the field and made a charge of 25 cents per meal. Subsequent to that date, a contract was awarded to D.J. Desmond to provide food services to Aqueduct workers.Collection
