B & W digital scan of LADWP Laborers working on Diversion Weir and Sluiceway Structure (part of Intake facility) that diverts Owens River from its original channel into the LA Aqueduct Aqueduct. "There are three radial Sluice Gates at each end of the Diversion Weir, 8' wide and 8 1/2' high. They are built upon steel sheet piling and concrete, with concrete abutments. These gates may be opened to pass unusual floods or to sluice out the river channel immediately in front of the intake of the canal. The overall length of Weir structure is 324'. from, LA Aqueduct Construction, Final Report, 1916, pg 131.Collection
