Color photo postcard of cones on a bristlecone pine branch. On reverse: Ancient Bristlecone Pine--Pinus Aristata. These long lived historians are named for the bristles on the first year small purple cone. These delicate masterpieces of nature evolve into the almost ordinary looking cone in the center and at the end of 2 years reseed this remarkable Bristlecone Pine Tree.
