"Within the present year there will be completed 18.3 miles of continuous conduit into which will flow the water from sixty five miles of drainage area ranging in elevation from five to thirteen thousand feet With the Aqueduct completed in the spring of 1912 from Cottonwood Creek past Ash Cartago and Olancha Creeks to the Haiwee Reservoir it will be possible to divert the spring floods of these streams into that reservoir next year This will permit of a thorough seasoning and testing of the concrete and also the soaking up of the dry bed of the Haiwee Reservoir." --from LA Aqueduct Annual Report, 1911 pgs 15-16.
