B & W digital scan of open, lined section of Los Angeles Aqueduct as it passes by Cottonwood Power Plant. The jagged edges of concrete may evidence some of the damage caused to the Aqueduct by a flash flood that roared down Cottonwood Canyon.
"Although a flood at Cottonwood had destroyed an embankment, Mulholland estimated that the damage would not exceed $1,000, and in his seventh annual report he described the year along the aqueduct (1912) as one of quiet industry." --from William Mulholland and the Rise of Los Angeles pg. 219.
