Color photo postcard of a stone building and the remains of another structure beside it. Mountains in distance, dirt road in foreground.
On reverse: Ballarat. The ghost town of Ballarat in desolate Panamint Valley was a bustling little trade (and drinking) center at the turn of the century. Ballarat was organized as a town site in 1897, complete with store and post office, but some say it never really bustled till 1900 when Chris Wicht brought in his saloon and the miners from nearby diggings congregated here.
