1996.9.1Description
Color photo of three men taken at Upper Glacier Lodge, which was located above 4th Lake, in 1962. The man on the right is the Cook, the man on the left was the dishwasher who the donor replaced. Donor says he was the last dishwasher at the Upper Lodge and he was 16 years old at the time. On the right is a small building covered with burlap bags with water flowing over them to keep the bags wet; this was the meat cooler/refridgerator.
Written in pencil on reverse: Rear of Lodge and meat cooler in background. Upper Glacier Lodge.
Information from donor: The Upper Lodge used to belong to Roy Steadman and it sat on a bluff overlooking the 4th Lake in the backcountry of Big Pine. The Forest Service forced Roy to tear down the Upper Lodge and return everything to natural habitat in 1962 or 1963.Collection
