Description

Mounted photo display featuring fifteen small 2.5" square snapshots of Ballarat, Slim's funeral in 1968, and Slim's grave. It looks like there may also be some images of Charles Ferge, better known as Seldom Seen Slim, himself. There is a typewritten sheet of paper that contains titles/captions that correspond to these photos. They are as follows: 1. "Slim's Place. Information" 2. "Stop. See Slim" read another sign. 3. Toothy grin greeted guests. 4. Set a spell; buy rocks, maybe. 5. Proudly pointed to Ballarat cemetery he kept nearly clean. 6. Places bottle on old friend's grave. 7. You tire easily when you have cancer. 8. Trumpet blows for Slim. Volunteer gravediggers make scene. 9. Ready for mourners to arrive. 10. Adobe walls frame mourners and flag. 11. "I got no people." Slim was orphan. 12. Desert rats and young women came. 13. "I don't get lonely. Hell, I'm half coyote and half wild burro." 14. Last of the old school of miners on Ballarat's Boot Hill. 15. Winds blow softly at Slim's place.
