Collection of eight photos of or around Skidoo from 1907-1908. Photos were taken by the donor, George Cook.
A617.25--Skidoo in 1907. Geo. Cook's tent in extreme left hand corner. Skidoo lasted about 10 years. 1908 largest population--700 people. (One little cabin left at old town site 1957) [Red marks and "S.S." on front of photo. Photo titled "Skidoo."]
A617.26--Fourth of July 1907. George Cook first in back row (right to left). Moving a piano to the Hall. Held the dance there. Part of Skidoo Ball team helped load the piano. Skidoo. [Some of the baseball players' shirts say "Skidoo M. Co." and others have "23 B.B.C."]
A617.27--Skidoo. Two teams. One team Town, second team Mines. 1908. [Some of the uniforms say "Skidoo M. Co." and others say "23 B.B.C." Stamped on reverse with ECM info.]
A617.28--Stagecoach coming in from Johannesburg to Skidoo. 112 miles. 1908. (Notice canvas wind break on coach)
A617.29--Joe Grundy and Jim Arnold 1908 at Skidoo (leaning on chicken crate). Jim Arnold was killed by Joe Simpson. (Joe Simpson was hanged fourth night after the killing.) Arnold had one brother in Cripple Creek, Colorado. He was very fine character. (Geo. Cook information April 10, 1957) [Joe Grundy on left, Jim Arnold on right.]
