Framed and matted watercolor painting by Kango Takamura dated 01/29/1944 of a winter scene and Manzanar barracks. It was given by the artist to Reverend Henry G. Bovenkerk, a Protestant Chaplain at Manzanar War Relocation Center and donor's father. The Bovenkerks lived in Independence during WWII.
Donated by family of Rev. Henry G. Bovenkerk. Given to him by artist in appreciation of tireless and devoted service as Protestant Chaplain of Manzanar.Collection
