Mounted photo of the mining camp town of Millspaugh in 1908.
Handwritten on reverse: Camp 1908. Millspaugh Post Office, Inyo Co., California--at the head of Shepherd's Canyon, midway 20 mi. between Ballarat and Darwin 20 mi. Boarding House on hill at right. 2nd mill--dark red corrugated iron siding and roof, blacksmith shop, assay office--right upper corner. Store and living quarters, center, behind large yucca wood pile, used for fule under boiler. Lower left--bunk tents. Our freight wagon, corrals, and barns in foreground (do not show). Large flat rock in center by well with pitcher pump and horse trough, half barrel. Benchmark on rock set by U.S. Geological Survey 1906--elevation above sea leavel 6,157'. Jessie N.
