Photo of what appears to be a vehicle being pulled by a team of two horses down the street in Darwin. Written in blue ink on reverse: 1916. Part of Main St. Darwin Calif.--Reynold's turkey gobbler that chased us!--on right Black Metal Saloon--we had "local option"--county dry--in front of team--Jack Gunn's original saloon 1876--on left was original store--general merchandise and on up big [original] hotel--right side of street burned down--2 blocks--old barns and corrals Aug. 17, 1917 and July 7, 1918 2 blocks burned--so all original part of town buildings on both sides of Main Street destroyed. ELM '77. This photo was likely included with letter 1955.912.32a, though she does not specifically mention this print.
