Written in blue ink on reverse: 1916. Part of Main St. Darwin Calif.--Reynold's turkey gobbler that chased us!--on right Black Metal Saloon--we had "local option"--county dry--in front of team--Jack Gunn's original saloon 1876--on left was original store--general merchandise and on up big [original] hotel--right side of street burned down--2 blocks--old barns and corrals Aug. 17, 1917 and July 7, 1918 2 blocks burned--so all original part of town buildings on both sides of Main Street destroyed.
