Photo of five men walking away from the camera toward the Black Metal Saloon in Darwin.
Written in pencil on reverse: Enlargement.
A photocopied paper written by Elizabeth Mecham says: 1915. The gang heading for a solo game--Mamie Reynold's head and shoulders as she took the picture (cut out of this enlargement). This is the corner where Thorson's store stood--built after 1917 fire by Murry Clay and John Niskey--then Lonnie Lee owned it as a store and P.O. and sold to Bland in 1924 and he sold to Thorson 1928--then 1938 they bought the Out Post from Charlie and Hilda King and the old store burned down in 1945. When these first start no one could get in--we just stood there and watched everything go, as each fire from early days took more of old town--and can do so again!Collection
