Handwritten in blue ink on reverse: Silas H. Reynolds 1916. Bought original store, hotel, and barns, and corrals across the street 1905 with Domingo Etcharren. At that time Silas was County Supervisor, built the Skidoo road from Lane Flat down into lower Darwin wash (above falls) and into Panamint Valley when Skidoo was booming to haul produce etc. from Owens Valley. Time road was finished (grade on side of mts. above wash) the boom was over. Later the road was misnamed Zink [zinc] Hill when zink [sp] claims were developed 1912 on. Born Lands End, England Nov. 25, 1868, died Dec. 31, 1917. Silas and his "Hobo" Australian sheep dog--1 white eye. ELM.Collection
