Written in pencil on reverse: Millspaugh June 1910 taken by Gus Haelsig of Brown store and post master. After a flood in 1908 sand washed in back store building 5' deep. We dug out the back door. Second mill no tables--but cyanide plant and red corrugated iron. First burned 1902--bat and board. Concentrating tables. Back of store and living quarters and guest tent at right. Assay office at left. We brought locust trees--little twigs from Lone Pine and how they grew and so beautiful. Momma coming up hill by large wood pile, yucca. Al in mill door.
The second mill built 1903-04. This one of corrugated iron--dark maroon red. The stamps were not damaged in the fire. Cyanide plant in second mill--doing away with concentration tables. We had a deep well at mill with pumps--run by the steam engine--Fairbanks Morse. This is second mill--the first--bat and boards. Burned down spring of 1902. Wood pile of dried yuccas for boiler. Locust trees we brought from Lone Pine just slips. Can't see store just upper part front. Assay office. Blacksmith ship. Mill. Tailing pond. Board house. Left--miners' tents. Hay and grain barn. My buckboard. Roof of horse barn, corral. Well in center above flat rock.Collection
