Mounted photo of the old Wood's Store in Independence with a vehicle parked in front of it. There are possibly eight people in the vehicle, three people sitting on the porch of the store, and two young boys on horseback. Painted on the right side of the building is "L. Wood General Merchandise" and below that is an advertisement for Levi Strauss Co.
Some of the people have been identified. They include: Fred Reynolds, Marshall Naylor, Frank Lenot, Harry Jiggins, Jim Hession, Arthur Mc---, Leroy Roper, Henry Cartier, Ella Woods, L. D. Wood, and Howard Davis. The vehicle is a Garford put out by Studebaker (Studebaker-Garford, c. 1904-1911?).
The location of this building in Independence may have been near the corner of Edwards and East Market Streets, where the jail used to stand.Photograph Details
