B/w photo of fourteen men working amongst salt piles. Three "buggies" in foreground. There is a noticable line or cable stretching across the photograph (it is reflected in the brine). Mountains in the background.
Label says: "When dry the salt was shoveled on to special buggies with wide wheels and towed to the railway where it was dumped into salt cars. Each buggy carried from 500 to 1,000 pounds of salt. The loaded buggies were hauled across the field by a 3/8 inch cable operated by a gasoline engine. The empty buggies were hauled out to the salt piles by hand."
