Mounted photo of the first wooden school building in Lone Pine. As of 1957 it was the site of the present town hall building at the southeast corner of Jackson and Bush Streets.

Written in ink on reverse: [Illegible] wooden schoolhouse in Lone Pine, Inyo County, California. In later years building turned into the Town Hall (at corner of Bush and Jackson Streets). Mrs. Temple first school teacher in the building. Eva Lee Shephard (Gunn) taught afterwards (private grades in front part). Charles H. Groves was Principal at the time. Adeline Meysan was one of primary students. Fenced in property in front of school owned by Charles Meysan.
