B/w photo of buckets attached to the portable monorail.
Label says: "In 1930 the Sierra Salt Company contracted with the Tonnage Transportation Company of Los Angeles for a portable monorail to transport salt from windrows on the salt field to salt cars which were pulled by cable to the terminal of the tramline. The monorail was perhaps 500 to 600 feet long and could be towed across the salt bed by a tractor. The monorail scoops were low enough for Indian laborers to shovel salt into them."
